STEP 1: Researching a WWII Location Select one WWII location from the list below. You will then conduct research on that location using available classroom, library, and/or Internet resources. Students should take notes as they conduct their research.

STEP 2: Writing a Description of the WWII Location Students write a short description of their WWII location and what happened there during the war. This description should be no more than 50 words. As students will be limited in their descriptions, they will have to choose carefully the facts and words they include.
STEP 4: Creating Direction Arrows Once students have composed their WWII location descriptions and determined the distances to those locations, they will create their sign post arrows.
1. Discuss how Japan and Germany was treated by the Allies following V-E and V-J Days. 2. Were there any similarities to the policies/decisions made following WW 1 or did we learn from the mistakes made previously? Explain. 3. How did the relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union deteriorate so quickly? 4. What happened to Nazi war criminals after the war? -What was the Nuremberg Trials? -How did some of the war criminals in up in the United States? 5. What were the driving forces behind the United States decision to not only join the United Nations, but also to host the UN?
